Civic reception: This is now fully booked!

Glasgow city invites you to a civic reception at Glasgow City Chambers where the Young Scholar Award ceremony will take place in the evening of Wednesday 29 August at 18.30. The evening will continue with a buffet reception to celebrate Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation’s 30th anniversary.

To get to Glasgow City Chambers from the University of Glasgow after the CCKF Lecture (17.00 – 18.00), you have four options:

1) You can get the subway from Hillhead to Buchanan Street. The route to walk from the university to Hillhead subway station is marked on the map below (the University of Glasgow is number 93).

Subway trains run every 6-8 minutes. It takes 8 minutes to travel from Hillhead to Buchanan Street on the outer circle. To walk from Buchanan Street subway station to the City Chambers, see MAP 2 (below) where the route is marked in purple (the City Chambers are marked here by the number 15).

2) Your second option is to catch the Number 15 bus towards Glasgow via Anniesland. The bus stop on University Avenue is marked on MAP 1 above with a red cross.

There is a bus at 18.08 that takes 12 minutes to get to the city centre. The bus stops on George Square just after North Hanover Street (marked on MAP 2 with a red cross). Then simply cross the square to reach the City Chambers.

 

3) Your third option is to catch the Number 4A bus towards Glasgow via Broomhill from the University Avenue bus stop. There is a bus at 18.12 that takes 14 minutes to get to the city centre. The number 4A bus stops on Renfield Street before St Vincent Street. The route to walk from the bus stop to the City Chambers is marked on MAP 2 in black.

 

4) Your fourth option is to get a taxi. There is a taxi rank on Byres Road just in front of the Hillhead subway station (see MAP 1). It takes approximately 15 minutes to journey from Byres Road to Glasgow City Chambers. Alternatively, to call a cab, phone Glasgow Taxis on 0141 429 7070 or Network Private Hire on 0141 557 1110.
